CHOICES NEWS:
CEG Releases Upgraded Dropout Prevention and Educational Success Workshop.
25-year-old program continues to serve teens for under $5 per student.
CHOICES Education Group (CEG), a Seattle-based nonprofit, announces a new release of its highly successful dropout prevention and educational success program. CHOICES, a two-hour workshop delivered in school classrooms over two days, has been delivered to more than six million students in the last 25 years. The new release, which is more interactive, focused and compelling for today’s teens, further supports CHOICES’ growing efforts to mitigate the high school dropout epidemic. (read more)
CHOICES PROGRAM MANAGEMENT TIP:
Get your presenters trained and certified with the CHOICES Workshop online training.
Presenter training is now available online for the convenience of each presenter--resulting in a CHOICES certification for each presenter who completes the training in its entirety. Here are the three approaches (in order of our preference) for CHOICES Program Managers to approach the training of CHOICES Presenters:
Presenters view online training and then attend a live training for questions and answers, practice, scheduling, and follow up.
Presenters view online training only.
Presenters attend a live training where they view the ENTIRE online training as a group. In this option, the CPM would stream the online training from start to finish and send us a list of names and email addresses, certifying that each of those in attendance had viewed the online training in its entirety.
Contact our National Program Director, Tiffany Markey (tmarkey@choices.org) for the online training link if you do not already have it.
CHOICES IN THE FIELD:
Reinforcing Your CHOICES Message!
Are you looking for a way to further reinforce and enrich the CHOICES message with additional role models from the business community who have made positive CHOICES in their lives? We have recently learned about an exciting program called Segue Career Mentors in Ventura, California that does just that!
Segue provides trained speakers from world of work, from all careers, that expose students to multiple career options. Speakers use an online scheduling system to choose a date that fits their schedule, and at just the frequency teachers have requested. They speak for 20 minutes in each of three classrooms and reach about 100 students per visit. They share with students the wisdom and lessons learned from their real-world path to the workplace.
Segue’s eight year track record of success in California has led them to expand to new locations nationwide, and they invite you to bring this exciting program to your community. To learn more, please visit www.SegueProgram.org and then contact Jerry Beckerman, Executive Director of Segue Career Mentors, at 805-643-3444 or jerryb@SegueProgram.org. |
