About The CHOICES Workshop

CHOICES grew out of the experience of a concerned Seattle dad trying to reach his troubled, teenaged son. Confrontation didn’t work, so he decided to write his son letters about decisions and their consequences. He got through, and the idea of delivering these critical lessons in a way teens would hear became a primary tenet of CHOICES.

In 1985, the CHOICES Education Group was established as a national not-for-profit social enterprise with the goal of leading students toward personal and academic achievement. Social enterprises are organizations, which trade in goods or services, and link that trade to a social mission. Specifically it means any earned-income business or strategy undertaken by a nonprofit for the purpose of generating revenue in support of the nonprofit’s social mission.

CHOICES has since helped more than 5 million teens across the country shape their futures, and now serves more than 1,000 teens every school day.

Thousands of volunteers from leading businesses , chambers, service clubs, and community organizations give their time, energy, and caring to deliver the CHOICES seminar to 250,000 students each year.

But this is only a start. Imagine what could happen in our communities if this simple, transforming classroom experience reached every child?
